Day 1 - Explain CHS Bartering Bonanza, students get partners and discuss different products. Show powerpoint of last year!

Day 2 - What is an Entrepreneur?

  • Read about entrepreneurs
  • Groups - fill out characteristics of what they think an entrepreneur is.
  • Take the quiz "Are you an entrepreneur?"
  • Do the tower structure with marshmellow

Day 3 - Forms of business

  • Forms of business ownership - read web site
  • Show PowerPoint and students take notes
  • Show the chocolate
  • Read the scenarios and have students decide what is the best business structure.
  • Watch video of Red Paperclip Man

Day 4 – Inventors

  • Do those brain teasers.
  • Read web site
  • Read Slinky Story to class
  • Complete worksheet
  • Group work - find a common item and the group needs to come up with different uses for the object.
  • Hand out choice of product sheet, show wish list to kids.
  • Watch the red paper clip video

Day 5 - Intellectual Property

  • Discuss items

  • Design their logo

  • With their partner create a mission statement for their business.

Day 6 - Decision Making

  • Finalize decision on product

Day 7 - Ethics

  • Read Ethics web page
  • Activity: As a groups of 4 or 5 - give them the Making Informed Ethical Decisions Worksheet
  • Individual Groups: Create their own Code of Ethics

Day 8 - Marketing Mix

  • Take any item (mcdonald toy) & promote it.

Day 10 - Price
  • Discuss price
  • Do the pizza activity- bring in pizzas and talk about the prices and markup. Have the students look up prices of the pizza online. Once they are completed, they can eat the pizza.
