Photoshop Selection Tools—Candles Instructions


 
Learning Targets
Photoshop tools: Move (V), Marquee (M), Lasso (L), Wand (W), Quick (W), Crop (C), Zoom (Z).
Shortcuts: Delete the PhotoShop preferences while launching Photoshop, hold down the Control+Alt+Shift keys; Ctrl-T=Free Transform; Ctrl-D=Deselect; ALT=zooms out, subtracts from selection, duplicates, Shift=adds to selection, constrains proportions.

Step One:

  • Download the candles.jpg file and save it to your directory
  • Open Photoshop and create a new file 5 inches by 5 inches
  • Save as Arranged Candles.psd in your network drive.

Step Two:

  1. Use the marquee tools and select the images from the candles file and paste them in the new file.
  2. Select objects using the Quick Selection and the Magic Wand tools
  3. Move the selections around to create a nice graphic. The white background is good.
  4. Use the transformation tools to make some of the candles large and some smaller. You need to have at least 3 images of each candle in your design.
  5. Add and subtract from selections of some of the candles

 

NAME LAYERS AS YOU GO!  REFINE SELECTIONS BEFORE YOU DRAG OVER!!

Be sure all layers are named!!! 

Save as yourname candles.psd and I will check it on your screen.  (30 Points)
